This is not a book for learning professional techniques. However, it's a great resource for beginners, ONLY if you buy the older 1970s edition. I had to buy the current (2000s) edition for a basic clothing class, but stumbled upon the older edition in the school library. The comparison between the two shocked me, and I was upset that my newer edition had about 200 pages less information. Everything from each section covered far more in the 1978 edition, so i bought that one too! The 2000s edition places emphasis on graphics (making the page look cool) but it sacrifices its practicality. Also, the projects (though dated) in the old edition can be dated, but many are still relevant. A change of fabric is all most of those projects needs to visually see them modernized. DON'T BUY THE CURRENT EDITION---BUY THIS ONE!
