Burke, Dr. Edgar; Krug, Charles S.; Sickles, Ivin; Ray, G. Don. Fair. Book. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. Hardcover in 2/3 red cloth with green 1/3 spine with gilt embossed titles. A stated Second edition, Revised and Enlarged, Reset and Printed from New Plates, November 1952. Originally published in 1938, this book was reprinted thirteen times. Contains 20 plates (bound in just before the text pages) printed in full-color on gloss pages. Preliminary pages number i-xv, 482 text pages, plus i-xiii (index). Frontispiece in full-color on gloss stock facing title page. Book is tight with waterstain damage to lower gutter margin, not affecting text on any page. Stain is 3" high at front hinge on front endpapers tapering off the bottom edge after about a 3" width on the non-gloss pages before the gloss plates. The stain itself shrinks to 1.5" high and 1.5" wide on each page just before the plates. On the gloss plate leaves the entire bottom edge of the pages are rippled up about 1" or less. The stain then diminishes after that to affect just 3/4" high by 1.25" area in the bottom margin at the gutters only. On the front cover, the waterstain is visible on the red portion. Both sets of white endpapers have red spots along the bottom edges from the red cloth outer cover. Great reference that is entirely readable and sound, at a reasonable price. Media mail included.
