On the evening of May 4, 2001, after working my patrol shift, I sat down at my home computer and gathered as much information as possible about the kidnapping. I found a composite drawing of the suspect, a description of the vehicle, and a possible license plate number. According to the latest news releases, authorities were looking for the suspect in the Seguin, Texas, area. Texas law enforcement was being assisted by the FBI and was frantically searching for the latest victim of the IH-10 Predator. I was several hundred miles from the search area, but I firmly believed I had heard from God.
