I had the opportunity to read this book as well as his book "The Ninemile Wolves" and I highly recommend both. Bass' writing compells you to turn each page as you become immersed in the story. In fairness, he analyzes both sides of the argument of wolf reintroduction, yet, he adds his own thoughts on the matter with pointed comments which divulge a true sense of the author's character. Pesecutions of the wolf by humans and killings made by the wolves themselves are so descriptively depicted in his writing that it feels as though you are right there on the scene. Bass imparts his abundant knowledge on his subject without boring the reader. He hooks you as you salivate over what will happen next. A quote from the book which you will feel from reading Bass' writing is "...for a few seconds there, we were right in with them, following right behind them...it was like we were one of the pack..." You will truly fell like you've been running with the pack!
