This is a superb, creepy, suspenseful, thriller that I could not put down. I had to stay up and finish it!
Conrad and Jo?s marriage is in shambles. Jo is always away on her traveling assignments with the pharmaceutical company. Conrad is unemployed and has come into quite a lot of money after his father?s death. The both of them suspect the other of cheating. Conrad tries to give them a fresh, new start, by buying a house in Wisconsin, moving them out of L.A. Conrad will learn the history of his new home used to be a birthing house.
Jo can not stand to be in it. The previous owners are mysterious about when they lived there. He hears sounds of Amish dolls, babies crying, and the voice of a woman. It is the same woman who is in the photo album, which belongs with the house. She looks just like Jo!
Conrad is sexually frustrated, and gets involved with the pregnant 15 year old neighbor. When she shares her stories with Conrad, of when she was babysitting for the previous owners weird children. Conrad will be confronted with the deterioration of his marriage, the destruction of his sanity, and he?ll ultimately learn that some houses live on the births of life, when others live on the deaths of life. That can be just as bad, if not worse.
