Write the sums to be added so that dollars are under dollars and cents under cents. This will bring the decimal points in a column. Thus: $593.60 Notice that when an amount is dollars 75.06 only (as $254), two naughts are used to 254.00 express the cents. When an amount is 4-.09 cents only (as 9 cents), nothing at all is $922.75 written under the dollars. The numbers are added as if there were no decimal points; but when the adding is completed, write a decimal point in the sum exactly under the other decimal points, so that there will be two figures for cents to the right of the point.
