A copy of the July 27, 1919 New York Times review is tipped onto the front pastedown. The story of a Malay curse and the New England clipper ship and its crew that are subject to it in the 1860s. The second part of the book tells what befalls the captain, now old and genttle and living in his New England coastal home.
