Simon's courtship of Alicia presents enough suspense. The story doesn't really get on track until the next generation arrives. The jealousy between Simon's daughters and a Good marrying into the Fear family is great drama. This book could have easily been two novels, but Stine condensed these two tales. It works well. The pace is very fast and there are tons of characters to kill off. The deaths aren't graphic so most people won't be offended.
