Ms. Paretsky sweeps us up in this story of a family struggling to make a living on a farm in Kansas while the war in Iraq plays in the background. How much strain and grief can one man or woman take, day after day? And how long does it take to fight back up from the depths of despair? The author asks and answers these questions with real characters, characters we would all like to meet and help if we could.
Excellent reading! Different from the author's mysteries but just as compelling!!

A good read
As always Paretsky satisfies. This is not her usual format but I recommend it, very interesting book.
