Words are not adequate to express the depth of emotion, the accuracy of the historical details regarding Europe in WW II, and the reality of Bel Ria portrayed in this book. For days and even months since reading this book, the little dog and her life during WW II have stayed in my mind and heart -- she is more real to me than almost any character in any of the wonderful books I have been privileged to read, equaled only perhaps with the character of Father Pierre in books by Evelyn Voss Wise.
