Time is no factor in this tale of a marooned family of the Age of Enlightenment. It takes too long to get to shore . Too long to build a residence. Too long to explore the Island. Too long to get back. Too long for the Pirate attack to get going. Too long and then it's over and you say to yourself "Wow, that movie was over fast!" Yet two hours have gone by. The setting in tropical Tobago is exquisite. The animal menagery is well involved. The costumes for a period piece seem authentic enough. One of Disney's best camera men did the shooting. The motley crew of cutthroats is so well directed that they come alive as a character themselves. All magical.

The DVD edition I watched has a Donald Duck cartoon added. There is also looped commentary
