This is sort of book reminds me that the Internet isn't always the best choice when buying books. Sometimes it pays to look at them first. It was far too simplified for an educated person. The typeset was also so large that, had it been normal size print, would have resulted in a book with about 75% fewer pages. It does have some useful information, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

Great advice & Inspiration
Mr. Mosley offers very common-sense and smart ways that both inspire and show one how to keep going with their efforts at completing a manuscript. Often humorous and full of good examples I found it a delightful read, and a good 'butt-kicker' to get me to start writing and keep on going, no matter what! Thanks, Mr. Mosley!

not your usual writing book
Writers love to read, so it makes sense that there are so many how-to-write books out there. Mosley's differs from the pack in two important ways: First, it's brief. With his emphasis on the importance writing every day, it makes sense that he offers a book short enough that it doesn't give you any excuses to avoid your own writing. Despite its brevity, hwoever, it's a solid book, thanks to difference #2: Mosley avoids excercises in favor of examining the more subtle (often psychological) aspects of the writing process. I particularly enjoyed his explanation of bringing the subconscious to bear on your writing, and his definition of plot as a structure of revelation. A worthwhile read for any writer.

Good advice, good pep talk
Walter Mosley offers some advice and a good deal of inspiration in this brief but useful book. He knows that writers can get all the writing tips they need from a million other books; what he offers is guidance through the process itself. Follow his path--write every day; read, rewrite, reread; add a little poetry--and you will have written your novel this year.
