In this book Dr. Gerald Bray goes through the history of Biblical Interpretation from Bible times to the present. He divides the book into sections corresponding to historical epochs and for each era presents the major subjects of interest, major figures on the interpretive scene, major methods of interpretation and a case study on a particular book or section of the Bible interpreted in a way peculiar to the time period under discussion. Dr. Bray writes engagingly and the sections that aren't going through lists of names go by quickly. The lists of names take a little longer if you are just reading through, but the main strength of their presence is the book's greater value as a reference manual. You can easily look up particular interpreters and get a quick feel for how they come at the Bible and what era they relate to, which is extremely useful.
