The epic of Pabuji is an oral epic performed in present-day Rajasthan as part of a religious cult. This study examines the text, performance and origins of Pabuji, a medieval Rajput hero from western Rajasthan, nowadays widely worshipped in that state as a folk-deity capable of protecting against ill-fortune.
