This is the only published book on aging that sopecifically addresses each of hte 16 Minimum Essential Competencies for Gerontological Counseling Specialists. These specialty competencies comprise the organizational framework for the book, and focus attention on the awareness, knowledge, and skills required to be an effective counselor for older persons and their families. Each chapter includes case studies and discussion questions to provide insight into successful treatment planning with older clients to enhance the practical application of each competency. Extremely helpful to persons wishing to develop the base of information needed to become gerontological counselors.
