Organized and mustered into U.S. service in June, 1863, the 55th served for over three years and fought bravely and effectively in both the siege against Charleston and the Florida expedition of 1864, then fighting more extensively at the Battle of Honey Hill, November 30, 1864. The regiment was then disbanded and discharged in Boston in 1865. Illustrated dust wrapper, fully intact, not price-clipped.
