Used; Very Good in Good jacket. 8th Printing (April 1981) No marks or writing observed in text. Binding tight and square. Gently read. George C. Nonte Jr., a retired Army Ordnance officer, was a noted expert on firearms. A prolific author, he wrote articles and books about almost every aspect of shooting sports. He also operated a professional firearms testing, evaluation, and consultation service.............'I found this to be an excellent resource. Mr. Nonte does not get caught up in common debates of this or that approach being better, but rather present to the reader wisdom in the way of describing what has worked well (and also not so well) over his decades of experience as a pistol specializing gunsmith. It is a very good text for those new to firearms or gunsmithing that want to know what tools are essential as well those that are nice to have or rarely used-highly specialized. In short, you learn where to get the most value by investing in quality where it is sure to pay off and also how to organize your work area, paperwork logs, and expand the tools of the trade overtime. Nonte illustrates many do's and don'ts that are not so obvious to those without the experience. Represented is an approach to the pistol as a machine with the eye of a craftsman of the 20th Century, that reminds me of the engineering skill of my great uncles and grandfather--Nonte has a fine ability to relate techniques from perspectives tempered by common sense and patience. Pistolsmithing by George Nonte, Jr, makes for an enjoyable read as well as reference for firearm enthusiasts, beginner gunsmiths, and experienced gumsmiths and armorers interested in the experiences anf techniques of a pistolsmith from a time when the values regarding firearms, gunsmiths, and craftsmen-in-general were rather different than many find them today!
