New in New jacket. Book **NEW** In 1934 Alcoa introduced a revolutionary new line of aluminum alloy giftware and domestic items designed by American pioneer industrial designer Lurelle Guild. Called Kensington Ware, these relatively expensive, slick, machine-age objects were in an unmistakenly Art Deco style with cast brass accents. They represent an important American contribution to modern design and decorative arts. The Kensington plant ceased production around 1970, and collectors have recently been scooping up these compelling objects in the antique and collectible markets. This is the first book to tell the Kensington story and identify, value, and illustrate the aluminum in 375 color, vintage, and black-and-white illustrations. It is a must for anyone interested in aluminum, Art Deco, and the machine-age in America.
Very Good in None as issued jacket. Clean, solid copy. There is a rubber stamp of the letter "H" in a circle on the corner of the first page; its black ink on a black-background page is hard to see. Cover is glossy with light wear to corner tips, a light small bend at top front corner, and a larger bend near the spine on the front cover, presumably from the cover being opened. Binding tight and square; no creases to spine. Excellent resource. Books, box sets, and items other than standard jewel case CDs and DVDs that sell for $7 or more ship bubble wrapped and boxed; under $7 in a bubble mailer. Expedited and international orders may ship in a flat rate envelope rather than a box due to cost constraints. All US-addressed items ship with complimentary delivery confirmation.
NF with unbroken spine; clean and bright. Glossy black wraps with color illus. and white lettering. 160 pp. with color and bw illus. throughout. Identifies, values and illustrates 375 items of aluminum alloy Kensington Ware, made of aluminum alloy by Alcoa at their New Kensington, Pennsylvania plant. The story and history of the company and the wares, designed by Lurelle Guild, are included. No library about Art Deco arts would be complete without this volume! A great reference.
