Paul Cezanne

Paul Cezanne was born in 1839 in Aix-en-Provence, France. After studying law for several years, he left Aix in 1861, along with his friend Emile Zola, in order to pursue life as an artist in Paris. Cezanne's paintings were first shown in the innaugural exhibition of the Salon des Refuses in 1863, which displayed works not accepted by the jury of the official Paris Salon.
