Muhammad Asad

Muhammad Asad was born Leopold Weiss in 1900 in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, to a family descended from a long line of Jewish rabbis. A career in journalism took him to the Middle East, Afghanistan, the Southern Soviet Republics, India and Pakistan. As a young man, he converted to Islam and he was eventually appointed one of the first Pakistani ambassadors to the United Nations. He was the author of several books.
