Lucy Maud Montgomery

Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery was born in 1874 in Prince Edward Island. Her mother died when she was just under two years old and so she was left in the care of her maternal grandparents, who brought her up. She published her first novel Anne of Green Gables in 1908 which was an immediate success. And so Montgomery's successful career took off.
