Karl Liebknecht

Karl Liebknecht (18711919) was a German lawyer and politician. A member of the Reichstag (19121916), he was imprisoned during World War 1 as an anti-militarist Social Democrat. He was a founder member, of the German Communist Party (KPD) in 1918, and led an unsuccessful revolt in Berlin, the Spartacus League Revolution, in January 1919, during which he was murdered.
