Helmut Kohl

Helmut Kohl, born in 1930 in Ludwigshafen, was the sixth Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. He led a coalition of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany, the Christian Social Union of Bavaria and the Free Democratic Party from 1982 to 1998. His greatest achievement, which is also recognised by most of his political adversaries, is the reunification and his commitment to Europe.
