Helen Gardner

Helen Gardner (1908-86) was a tutor and fellow at St Hilda's College, Oxford before becoming the first woman to be elected Merton professor of English language and literature in 1966. She produced important editions of John Donne's poetry and wrote two books about the poetry of T. S. Eliot, The Art of T. S.
