George Ignatieff

George Ignatieff (1913-1989) was diplomat, serving as Canadian ambassador in the Department of External Affairs 1966-69 and president of the Security Council 1968-69. He was also ambassador to Yugoslavia 1956-58 and permanent representative to NATO 1963-66. After retirement he spoke eloquently on behalf of disarmament causes, and he was named disarmament ambassador by Prime Minister John Turner.
