Emile Gaboriau

About the Author French writer Emile Gaboriau (1832 -1873) was a novelist, journalist and master of detective fiction. Gaboriau was born in Saujon, Charente-Maritime and achieved fame with L'Affaire Lerouge (1866). The book introduced an amateur detective and young police officer named Monsieur Lecoq, who was the hero in three of Gaboriau's later detective novels.
