Edward Ryder

Edward Ryder was born in New York City. He attended local schools and then Cornell University, where he earned a B.S. degree in plant sciences. He received a Ph. D. in genetics at the University of California-Davis. After serving two years in the U.S Army, he began a long career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Salinas, CA.
