Clement Clarke Moore (1779-1863) was an American writer and professor of Oriental and Greek literature. He is best-known for the classic Christmas poem 'A Visit from St. Nicholas' (later known as 'Twas the Night Before Christmas', which was first published anonymously in 1823.
