C a Macartney

Dr C.A. Macartney was educated at Cambridge and was a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford. A specialist on central Europe, Dr Macartney was appointed Head of the Foreign Office Research Department in 1939 and broadcast to Hungary in Magyar during the war. He was Montague Burton Chair of International Relations at the University of Edinburgh, a Foreign Member of the Szechenyi Academy of Sciences in Budapest, and an FBA.
