Barbe Awalt, an author, publisher, and photographer, is passionate about New Mexico, food, and ballooning. She, and her husband, Paul Rhetts, won the Mother Teresa Award from the St. Bernadette's Institute for Sacred Art and the Millie Santillanes Education Award from the New Mexico Hispanic Preservation League, for their work promoting Hispanic New Mexican art.
