Anne Szumigalski

Born and raised in England, Anne Szumigalski served in WWII as interpretor, welfare officer and medical auxillery, before emigrating to Canada in the early 1950's. She lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, from 1951 until her untimely death in 1999. She was awarded the 1995 Governor-General's Award for poetry for Voice (Coteau Books), having been a finalist for that award for two previous publications.
