Amiso George is an associate professor of Strategic Communication and director of the graduate program at the Schieffer School of Journalism at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX. Amiso George is an associate professor of Strategic Communication and director of the graduate program at the Schieffer School of Journalism at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX. She holds a Ph.D. from Ohio University (1992) and was accredited in public relations (APR) in 2003. She was director of the public relations program in the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada in Reno, where she developed and taught the first course in crisis communication. An award winning teacher, she also chaired a committee that wrote the crisis communication component of the University's Crisis Plan. Additionally, she was consultant for a major crisis at the University. Professor George had taught public relations at University of Texas San Antonio, and has authored book chapters and articles on crisis communication and public relations. She worked as a radio and television journalist and broadcaster, in the United States and Nigeria before embarking on an academic career.
