Alan Wittbecker is Senior Design Ecologist with SynGeo ArchiGraph LLC in Florida, where he works on a series of projects in global ecological design. He also teaches Forest Science at the Ecoforestry Institute and Environmental Science at Ringling College. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Wittbecker is also a returned Peace Corps volunteer from Bulgaria, where he monitored wolves in the Central Balkan Mountains. He has used his education and interests to explore a spectrum of ecological applications, from research on forest 'pests'-larch casebearers, cedar powderworms, and bears-to the political implications of the protection of species and habitats. When not engaged in preservation activities or thought experiments, he enjoys walking, swimming, reading, and drawing, at the River Farm Forest. You can reach him at: [email protected] See less
