Alfred Arthur Greenwood Hales was an Australian novelist and war journalist who lived from July 21, 1860, to December 29, 1936. The son of woodturner Frederick Greenwood Hales and his wife Sarah Leigh, née Veal, hales was born in Kent Town, Adelaide.
