A E Waite

A.E. Waite (1857-1942) was one of the major architects of the 19th-century occult revival, and its most prolific author. His writing career spanned sixty years, from 1878 to 1938, and included a remarkable range of subjects: poetry, fairy tales, the tarot, translations of Eliphas Levi, Freemasonry, and other aspects of the esoteric sciences.
