Alfred Cort Haddon (1855-1940) was one of Britain's most important anthropologists and ethnologists. He founded the school of anthropology at the University of Cambridge, and served as president of the following organizations: Section H (Anthropology) in the British Association meetings of 1902 and 1905; the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland; the Folk Lore Society; and the Cambridge Antiquarian Society.
