Very Good. First Edition, First Printing. In Very Good condition, in a Good price clipped dust jacket. Clean, age-toned pages with a faint cigar smoke odor present. Exterior shows light wear and light mottling to cloth. Dulling to spine cloth, and to gilt stamping on spine. Light edge wear. The dust jacket shows heavy edge wear, with a chip missing from the bottom corner of the front panel, and splits forming at the folds. The jacket has been mended with tape at the top of the spine from the verso. Rare.

Book condition: Very good with lightly bumped corners, former owner's name and a stain on front free endsheet and slight yellowing and spotting to edges. A good solid copy. Dust Jacket Condition: Very good. Price clipped with light chipping and rubbing around edges and subtle yellowing.
Near Fine in Near Fine jacket. First edition. Very uncommon variant issue with green lettering on the spine of the very dark blue cloth, and with no topstain. One of nine reported variants, all of them scarcer than the primary binding of black cloth with gold spine-lettering and red topstain. Small ownership signature of a reviewer on the front fly, slightly "smoky" smell, and the top edge a little soiled, else near fine in near fine dustwrapper with a very small chip on the rear panel and a bit of rubbing. A collection of interconnected stories published as a novel, including the comic masterpiece "Was" and the first book appearance of his classic novella "The Bear."

William Faulkner is arguably America's greatest 20th-century fiction author, and his GO DOWN, MOSES is among his best work as a collection of stories that also functions as a novel. This Modern Library edition was delivered to me in timely fashion and is in excellent condition. Bravo, Alibris!
