Halloween Books for the Switch Witch

Halloween Books for the Switch Witch

Halloween is finally here! And a colleague of mine tipped me off to a new Halloween tradition that involves swapping out your child’s heap of Halloween candy for books they will treasure over time. Sounds like a great idea to us!

So when the switch witch comes after Halloween here are a few ideas for what she might leave in place of that pile of Snickers bars. Classic books that give just a little scare and make the perfect read-alouds for your family. And if you need more inspirations browse more of our scary children books here.

Bony Legs by Joanna ColeBony Legs by Joanna Cole

When a terrible witch vows to eat her for supper, a little girl escapes with the help of a mirror and comb given to her by the witch’s cat and dog.

This classic is scary but ultimately empowering for your little ones looking for a Halloween scare.
