However it is a book with a great deal of character and should be attractive to those with an interest in astronomy. 23 B&W illustrations and a few charts help to explain the stars overhead. Some edgwear, staining and two illustrations are loose. Otherwise text is still bound tightly. Previous owner's signature on the title page. The author notes, in part, in his introduction to this edition, "In this second edition, the reader will find a few of the more abstract parts considerably simplified. It is also enriched by the an account of those admirable researches concerning Double Stars which lately have reached this country from the Imperial Observatory of Dorpat." Normally we would not offer to sell a book in this condition, however, considering the age and the subject matter, we are sure there could be some who are interested in the book, rough as it is. 222 pp.
