Book VG+ with mild toning and edgewear to edges of boards and spine, binding tight, front inner hinge mildly stained, otherwise text clean and unmarked, with mild spotting to top edge of text block. DJ VG with toning to spine and edges of panels, spine head and top corners show small tears, spine foot shows faintest soil, now in archival mylar wrap.

A.1 "Published March 20, 1947, at $2.50, in a printing of 1, 750 copies." This copy was sent to Stevens from Knopf. Stevens opened it to check its contents and, in so doing, pulled the head of the dust jacket, thus it has two 1/2" closed tears. This copy has a touch of darkening at the front gutter. Provenance: Wallace Stevens>Elsie Stevens>Holly Stevens. A letter confirming provenance will be supplied to the buyer.
Very Good in Good jacket. Signed by Author Signed, with a brief inscription to the owner, by Wallace Stevens on the front endpaper. Original green boards with black spine and spine label, as issued. Light wear only. A bit of browning to the inner hinges. Browning to spine of dust jacket, as well as along edges and folds. Minor chipping to jacket at top of spine. Considered one of the three or four most important American poets of the 20th century, Stevens rarely signed published editions of any of his works, except for a few limited editions. Very Scarce.
