She invokes the ancient heroes of the Greeks and Persians; she speaks of crusaders, and empires; of Cromwell and Icarus; of Lazarus and God. Inscribed by the author, the daughter of Carl Sandburg, at the purple endpaper, "For Eileen, in whom art is also autobiographical, Helga Sandburg (the poem for Paula is on p. 46)." The "l" in autobiographical has bled a bit, in an upwards motion. Unbruised tips, internally clean, tightly bound. 93 pp.
