The Frontiersmen/The Old West
The Frontiersmen is one of twenty-seven volumes in the popular Time-Life book series The Old West. This book focuses on those rugged individuals who tamed the early American frontier during and after the American Revolution and during the War of 1812. George Rogers Clark, Anthony Wayne, Daniel Boone, and Andrew Jackson are the major historical figures in this volume. The book also gives an account of the key battles fought on the frontier such as Vincennes, Fallen Timbers, Tippecanoe, Horseshoe Bend, and New Orleans. Additionally, a chapter is devoted to the Native Americans who lived in the Eastern Woodlands. The many illustrations, maps, and informative narrative make for a good book about the hardy souls who preceded Lewis and Clark, the mountain men, the pioneers, and the gold seekers of the American West.
