Thomas Rowlandson. Poor. 24mo-over 5"-5¾" tall. The third long poem featuring Doctor Syntax, at the end of which he dies. Includes 24 colour drawings by Thomas Rowlandson, one of which is missing. Pages 5 to 13 and 29 to 33 are also absent. In brown leather with gilt decoration, and 4 raised bands on the spine, scratched and worn at the edges. Both front and back hinges are cracked. The second Rowlandson illustration is loosely taped in. Owner's inscription, dated 1865 on both inside front and back covers. The majority of the text is nevertheless tightly bound.
