I've always fantasized about writing a screenplay. I typically write short stories and children's stories. I first heard about this book from a children's picture book author who raved about it and used it when writing her books. I knew I had to get this book. It is the single most useful book I have ever read. I reread it at least once a year. Syd Field lays out the whole format of the screenplay point by point. He guides you through the entire process in a workshop format and really does present it in an easy to follow way. This book can certainly be applied to any sort of writing. Even if you just need a little help with part of your writing this is the book to get. Reading this book gives clarity on how to structure your screenplay or book and make sense of all the components that move your story along. It couldn't be more simpler - you just have to WRITE.
