excellent overview
This book is a collection of chronological essays by experts in the field of Egyptology. It is an excellent way to gain a grasp of the history of ancient Egypt that is up-to-date and based solidly on recent research. Sometimes the text goes into considerable detail about the nuts and bolts of the archaeological evidence. That might not be to the taste of some readers but for someone who wants a bit deeper treatment of the subject, it is just right.
