Suburbia in the 1950s, a dark side emerging in the Chandler house for teenage Meg and her crippled little sister Susan--captive to an Aunt, who is rapidly descending into madness. But it's a page-turner, all right; no doubt about that."--Stephen King

The fact that this chilling novel is based on a true story makes it all the more horrifying. Very good, but not for the squeamish.

Talk about suspense!
I, too, came across this book while searching for Stephen King. I purchased the book for my plane ride to California .... the book never made it to the plane because once I started, I could not put it down. This has to be one of the most disturbing - yet I was engrossed - books I have ever read. My heart pounded as I went page by page trying not to read too fast because as sick as it sounds, I didn't want the book to end! The Girl Next Door is not a horror story - it is a story about horrible events. The ending totally blew me away.
