Samuel Warren (1807-1877), who also wrote under the pseudonyms Warren Warner, A Late Physician and A Barrister-at-Law, was a novelist, born in Denbighshire, son of a Nonconformist minister. After studying medicine at Edinburgh he took up law, and became a barrister, wrote several legal text-books, and in 1852 was made Recorder of Hull.
