Near Fine. Book. 12mo-over 6¾-7¾" tall. First American edition, published simultaneously with the British imprint, and bound from the British sheets. Original decorative colour-printed cloth hard covers. Slight shelf and handling wear to covers. Edges slightly toned; endpapers mildly foxed. Old owner's name-stamp inside rear cover, and erased from front endpaper. Otherwise a clean, tight and unmarked book. Very neat--a really handsome, sound volume.

Very Good. Book A scarce edition of this story of Boer life in the Seventies. From the Preface: The story in the following pages, based upon facts taken from real life, as narrated to the author by an old Boer, is only a peep at one of the many incidents which led up to the final doom of the Bushmen in the Karroo. Condition: Ina decorative grey cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, lightly rubbed in places. There is some minor damage to the top and tail of the spine. There is a stain to the rear board. Internally, generally firmly bound. Rear hinge is tender. There is a bookseller's label to the front pastedown and an ink inscription to the recto of front free end papers and half-title page. Overall: VERY GOOD.
