Near Fine. Earmarked as a 'horrible embarrassment' to the US Navy, where within minutes four of the five cruisers were knocked out of action; one of which still lies at the bottom of Ironbottom Sound. Author was a gunnery officer on a destroyer at this deadly night action. Three pages have 1/2" crease to bottom front corner. Binding tight, pages unmarked. Illustrated.
This book is a little dry but really the only game in town that fully assesses the battle and it's aftermath, from someone who was there and who did excellent research digging through records and talking with those participants who were still alive. Very helpful source to try to understand this still very confusing battle.
