Very good in very good dust jacket. Now in Brodart cover; dj has some chips; text near fine. 363 p. Audience: General/trade. This includes a wonderful 1959 verso photo of Elaine and John Steinbeck outside Wells Cathedral, Somerset, during the writing of this book.
John Steinbeck wrote a diary that was published along with this book while he was researching and writing the manuscript. The language is that of Steinbeck and it is a grand attempt by Mr. Steinbeck to write a contemporary version of Malory. The diary gives us an insight into the mind of Steinbeck and how he was writing this book. Although it was not finished it had all the wonder of the Winchester manuscript. Mr. Steinbeck loved writing so much that he loved the feel of the pencil between his fingers. To all those who loved Mr. Steinbeck's body of work this is a dessert to feast on. I recommend it anyone reading the works of Steinbeck.
